This community had a poor reputation a few years ago, but the area's recent explosion of newly designed and affordable single-family homes has piqued interest. Sharpstown's population has also grown, and the area's ongoing developments, as well as its proximity to the Galleria, downtown, and the Medical Center, indicate that the neighborhood is experiencing a renaissance. Those who enjoy trying new foods have yet another reason to investigate this emerging neighborhood. Fun Fact is that PlazAmericas (formerly known as Sharpstown Mall), was Houston's first air-conditioned, enclosed shopping mall.
