Until the developers started building master-planned communities in the community, the area remained essentially rural. The name Cy-Fair or Cypress-Fairbanks refers to the time when the Big Cypress School was located in the neighborhood. Cypress, which was once a rural farmland, is now one of the largest suburban communities in the county, with a large number of new single-family homes being constructed. Cypress offers a wide range of housing choices in a variety of types and sizes, all of which are reasonably priced.
